What Sizes of Garage Door Are There?
There are two types of garage door: compact and classic.
Classic doors need a headroom of 300mm and side room of either 70mm or 90mm.
Compact doors need 205mm headroom and 70mm side room.
What About the Bottom Lath?
This will hang down into the opening, therefore you need to take this into account with the drive-through height, reducing it by 77mm or 55m respectively.
What About the Different Heights and Widths?
There is some terminology you need to be familiar with if you want a new roller shutter door for your garage.
For a success installation you will need to know the total height of the garage door.
You will also need to total the overall guide width.
Then you’ll need to know the headroom height.
From the bottom of the headroom height to the ground, this is known as the guide height and needs measuring correctly.
The drive through height and width is as they sound. The drive through width must allow for the car to drive through the garage opening, while the drive through height must permit the full height of the car through the aperture.
What are the Headroom Heights?
If you have a classic door type, then this will need a headroom of 300mm and side room of either 70mm or 90mm. Compact doors need 205mm headroom and 70mm side room.
If the door is installed between the opening, the drive through width will be reduced by twice the guide width, and the drive through height will be reduced by the headroom requirement and bottom lath size.
